Goodbye, Yahoo! You would be missed

If you are from the generation that saw the dial-up Internet age, you must have used one of the many service of a company called Yahoo! Be it chatting away in your favorite chat room or searching for something on the Internet (yeah, people used to do that before Google came along). Yes, that Yahoo! that still feed our nostalgia of the early, humbling days of the Internet, is selling itself.

The company announced on Friday the formation of

a Strategic Review Committee of independent directors

to explore

strategic alternatives.

It’s no secret that the core business of Yahoo! has suffered along with its media industry and its efforts to diversify in other areas like mobile. The news, however, met with a positive vibe from the stakeholders rising up its stock prices 1.7%.
