Accusing the winning political party of unfair game, fake votes and counting in the General Elections is something losing political parties and their supporters whine about every time. This year’s General Elections were no different. Although, living in the 21st century, we are bound by old, humans-centralized system of counting votes. Well, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has changed this once and for all.
NADRA, the institution that statistically manages the government databases of all the national citizens of the Pakistan, has developed an electronic voting system that would work much like Apple iPhone 5s thumbprint scanner. But unlike iPhone’s thumbprint scanner, the device NADRA built would be storing and processing millions of thumbprints in the span of few hours.
“Electronic Voting Machine has been developed in collaboration with Telephone Industry of Pakistan (TIP),” says Tariq Malik, Chairman NADRA.
Let’s hope it doesn’t get hack in a few days like iPhone 5s’ touch ID did.
