There have been rumours in the smartphone industry of a launch of a new tablet from Google. Yesterday, Google launched a sleek, powerful, and updated version of its signature Nexus 7 tablet.
The launch event took place in San Francisco and Google ended up doing something really unexpected: launching Android 4.3 and a really cool device ‘Chrome Cast’.
I live-tweeted throughout the event. Here are some tweets covering that launch event.
Google just launched a new Nexus 7 tablet. Livestream is awesome. #Android

Rumor has it that a new version of Android will also be released today in San Francisco.

The new version of Nexus 7 will have an amazing 323 pixels per inch screen. Talk about clarity now!

Ever thought about a tablet that have dual camera with main camera as huge as 5 mega pixel? Well, Nexus 7 has ’em!
Dual stereo speakers, 5 mega pixel back and 1.2 megapixel front camera. An amazing 1920×1280 screen resolution.

Nexus 7 isn’t just about a polished upper crust, inside lies a powerful beast!
Inside this sleek piece of hardware is a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 4 Quad-core processor.

As opposed to the older version, new Nexus 7 comes with a 2 GB RAM and 4G connectivity options. Why’d you need a smartphone after that?

I understand that personal computers and gaming consoles still dominate video games industry, but what Nexus 7 came up with, would certainly set a benchmark for awesome computer graphics in mobile devices.
*rubbing my eyes* the graphics on new Nexus 7 devices is fricking real.

You never could have imagined this awesome of 3D graphics on mobile devices before. What else could you expect from a quad-core beast.

And when I thought that was all for the day, Google dazzled us with a piece of hardware the size of a typical flash drive. It is called Chrome Cast.
ChromeCast works like a wireless connection b/w your smartphone & TV. Just connect to your TV and view the smartphone’s screen on it.

So, that’s what Google/Chrome Cast is. You plug it in the HDMI port of your LCD/LED TV, and it’ll connect itself to an Android 4.3-enabled mobile device. You can then run videos on your device and view them on your big ass TV! You can also create playlists and have your friends add/edit items to your playlists.
GoogleCast costs merely $35 USD.

Like that wasn’t enough, Google launched an SDK (Software Development Kit) using which developers can make Android apps that make use of this new revolutionary device.
So Google just didn’t revamped TV, they opened new doors to future apps by launching an SDK (Software Development Kit) with their device.

So, these were the highlights of Nexus 7 launch. The tablet will be available in the US on 30th of July and would cost around $300. So if you’re a gadget enthusiast (read: freak), you should put your hands on this device. Don’t forget to buy the cute little awesome device, Google Cast.

Thanks Basit for this review. I liked the format where you embedded the tweets. Was very easy to read through.
Also, devices like ChromeCast already exist but it’s good to see an official version from Google.

Yes, the devices do agree but this one comes with updated Android OS and have many features like creating playlists, allowing friends to add, edit already created playlists etc.
I’d love to get my hands on that little device.

Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
